OUR BELIEFS

HOW WE SERVE OUR CHAPLAINS

Professionally and Personally support our Endorsed Chaplains:
  • Regular prayer (around our table at morning huddles) over the phone and virtual as requested.
  • Mentoring in your chosen field of ministry.
  • Regular check-ins via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Hosts annual in-person professional development training, recertification, and spiritual renewal.
  • Networking with fellow CFGC Chaplains.
  • Continued advocacy for Chaplaincy Advancement at the National Level.

Provides guidance, screening, interviewing, and recommendations for prospective chaplains to be considered for positions and professional credentials.

Assists chaplains with career transitions and placements.

We maintain contact with our partner churches and church fellowships, to faithfully represent our church members to Federal, State, and Local Agencies and civilian Chaplaincy institutions. This is the basis of CFGC’s maintaining and growing chaplaincy.

ECCLESIASTICAL ENDORSEMENT

About Ecclesiastical Endorsement

An Endorsement is the legal and authoritative permission and approval for a clergyperson of a particular denomination or faith group to perform/provide religious support and pastoral care to persons of diverse religious and non-religious affiliations in specialized settings such as the military, prisons, healthcare/hospice, and workplace facilities.
An Ecclesiastical Endorser is the executive of a religious organization approved by the Armed Forces Chaplain Board who legally endorses a clergy member to serve in specialized settings. The endorser certifies that the clergyperson is qualified educationally, spiritually, morally, and with experience to represent his/her religious organization as a Chaplain. The endorser provides a legal document to the specialized institution for service by the Chaplain. Without this Endorsement, Chaplains cannot perform/provide religious support in specialized settings even though they are ordained and licensed.

What an Endorsement is Not

An Ecclesiastical Endorsement is not a letter of recommendation. (Anyone or any church can write a recommendation). Only recognized Ecclesiastical Endorsing agencies can legally endorse. An Ecclesiastical Endorsement is not ordination. Only a denomination, faith group, or church has God-given authority to ordain. CFGC respects and recognizes the autonomous authority of its affiliated churches to ordain their clergy. CFGC may ordain prospective Chaplains on the authority and request of the churches and fellowship groups we represent.

CFGC generally requires no specific educational or professional background beyond that which the prospective Chaplain’s institution requires.

Next, CFGC conducts a criminal background check with a licensed private company and a spiritual background check with the minister’s pastor, ministerial colleagues, and ordaining authorities. Professional Chaplaincy applicants are then interviewed in person by a member of the CFGC family.

In addition to all the above requirements, the prospective Chaplain must have a servant’s heart and a willingness to minister to all people regardless of their ethnic, religious, and moral values. This is quite a challenge to many clergy, but if a minister desires to be a Chaplain, he/she must agree, in writing, to serve all without discrimination. This lack of bias is especially crucial for Chaplains who become supervisors and leaders.

STAFF

The staff of Chaplaincy of Full Gospel Churches is called by God to be servants to the Servants of God.

We realize that the name “Chaplain” is more than just another name for the minister. Chaplains are called to operate in a pluralistic environment and must hold each other accountable to the standards God has placed before us.

It is our goal to offer ecclesiastical endorsement to qualified applicants and assist others in the process of becoming chaplains. We offer encouragement, mentoring, counseling, training, resources, and great Christian fellowship.
